TWG Tea Salon & Boutique Singapore

I have been eating too much good food lately, seriously need to work out more vigorously now! But brunch at TWG is something that everyone should at least experience once. I never did expect myself to spend $73 on a brunch, but it was worth it! Though I would not have such expensive lunch so often.  A tea lover like myself would have enjoyed every experience in TWG. From their tea beverages, to their tea infused patisserie.

I went to the TWG at Ion Orchard. At around 12noon, there is not a single customer in sight. As there are no customers yet, my friend and I got quality ‘talk time’ without much disturbance. We ate our lunch accompanied by soothing opera music in the background. The ambience made me feel that I’m somewhere in Paris having afternoon tea.  At around 1pm, customers started streaming in.

First up, beef striploin served with sweet pineapple slices and baby carrot. The sauce has a distinct taste of Alfonso Tea. Tasted perfect with the tender beef slices. At $36, I would not mind ordering it again.

My friend ordered their connoisseur set meal at $52. It comes with fresh apple or orange juice, seared scallop carpaccio, 2 baked muffins accompanied by TWG tea jelly and whipped cream, and our choice of a TWG Tea Patisserie.

Seared Scallop Carpaccio

Seared Scallop Carpaccio
( The sauce should be infused with Red Christmas Tea, however we could not really taste the tea in this dish)

Chocolate muffin
(I personally felt that this chocolate muffin did not meet my expectations. The muffin is too thick and dry, not fluffy enough. We did not finish this muffin.)

The strawberry muffin is completely different from the chocolate one. It is moist, light and fluffy.

Raspberry Patisserie
(This crisp and flaky pastry is layered with a generous amount of vanilla chestnut cream and whole raspberries.)

We ordered White Mist and White spring Tea. The White Mist Tea has a stronger fragrance of rose while White Mist contains cherry blossoms. I personally preferred the White Mist Tea.

Au Chocolat at Marina Bay Sands

My friend mentioned about Au Chocolat and how special the place was, so I decided that I had to try the food at this place! Located at level 1 of Marina Bay Sands, just above the ice skating rink, Au Chocolat is a French-inspired confectionery and bistro. My friend and I decided to have our late lunch there. We arrived there a little later than 3pm and the place was almost packed.

The retail confectionery store sells all sorts of delicious snacks such as slice cakes, cupcakes, macarons, truffle and other merchandise.

The interior of the bistro was beautifully themed, I love the ceiling, lights and the train on the railway track  above us. Perfect for brunch, girls’ night out, chilling out, high tea or friends gathering. However, I felt that the food is a little pricey. We spent $60 per person.

beautifully designed ceiling, notice the railway track that hangs just below it.

The train was stationary when we were there.

Choc-A-Bloc Tower cake at $18, drizzled with rich chocolate sauce & vanilla ice cream. Good for 4 person & above.

The Crispy Duck Confit came with mashed potato, white wine poached pear and drizzled with tangy chocolate orange sauce. (Definitely one of the must-try dishes when you are dining at Au Chocolat!) The duck skin was unbelievably crispy and the flesh inside was warm and tender.

Mocha Pork Ribs, completely marinated and coated with a sinful combination of dark chocolate and gourmet coffee sauce. Finger-licking good!
